2016 Skeeter Ride
Thanks to all the riders and volunteers who helped make the 2016 Skeeter Ride a success. We had nice weather, great fellowship, fun cycling and raised money to help end malaria.
We especially want to thank Woody of Cycles de Oro of Greensboro
The 4th annual Skeeter ride was Saturday, September 10th. Registration was at 7:30 am with the ride started at 8:00 am.
Loops began and finished at Tabernacle United Methodist Church at 5721 Methodist Road Greensboro, NC.
Ride distances included 5, 10, 25 and 50 mile routes. Each route was marked with both road paint and signs. Sag wagons with water toured the routes in case any riders needed assistance.
The 10, 25 and 50 mile rides are south of the church. Maps will be posted posted here, and on the Facebook page. The 50-miler is on country roads past numerous dairy farms covering five counties. There are two rest stops with restrooms on the 50-miler and one rest stop with restrooms on the 25-miler.
Our five-mile route was ideal for families with kids 8 and up. The 10-mile ride was aimed towards the average cyclist. The 25 and 50-mile routes provided a more challenging ride for those who enjoy various terrains.
Before the ride and at rest stops, there will be water, PB&J sandwiches, fig newtons and fruit. After the ride will be breakfast burritos, fruit and baked goods.
Cycles de Oro of Greensboro was a very helpful with have a repair station set up in the church parking lot for minor repairs. We thank them for their support.
